Additional Airport Screening

TSA Issues New Security Directives to All U.S. and International Air Carriers with Inbound Flights to the U.S.

To ensure the highest level of security, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has directed the increased use of enhanced screening technologies and mandated:

  1. Enhanced screening for every individual flying into the U.S. who holds a passport from or is traveling from/through nations that sponsor terrorism or other countries of interest
  2. Threat-based and random screening for the majority of passengers on U.S.-bound international flights

For Passengers Departing U.S. Airports:

  • Advise your clients to follow the existing recommendation to arrive at the airport two (2) hours in advance of their flight.
  • Security checkpoint requirements remain the same. Clients may simply notice additional security measures.
  • Current procedures for screening bulky clothing or headwear remain unchanged. Passengers wearing these items may be subject to additional screening and may be offered a private screening area for a pat-down search, if they don’t wish to remove them.

For Passengers on International Flights to the U.S.:

  • Advise your clients to plan to arrive at the airport three (3) hours in advance.
